Internationally acclaimed mountaineer and guide; first American ascent of the North Face of Mount Everest and the first ascent of NW Face to North Ridge route of Kangchenjunga (world’s third highest); one of first mountaineers to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents; over 400 successful climbs of Mt. Rainier and over 25 successful ascents of Mt. McKinley. In the spring of 2002, he and his wife, Susan, became the first couple to climb the Seven Summits when they summited Mount Everest.
