The Wilderness Land Trust is excited to announce it recently transferred a ten-acre property to the Bureau of Land Management as an addition to the Wabayuma Peak Wilderness area outside of Kingman, Arizona. The property is located on a high ridge of Wabayuma Peak, a dramatic 7,601 foot mountain rising out of the desert, featuring granite outcroppings, spires and crags, as well wildflowers, ponderosa pines and Gambel oak at higher elevations. The area contains the northern most stand of saguaro cactus in Arizona. The property is the eighth property transferred by the Trust to the BLM in the Wabayuma Peak Wilderness, bringing the total of acres protected by the Trust in the wilderness to three hundred! The Trust is working with the last few remaining private property owners still located in the wilderness in an effort to complete the public ownership of this island in the sky habitat.
