The Wilderness Land Trust welcomes
Dan Huntington as Vice President
Dan Huntington
Dan first became involved with the Trust in early 2000, developing the Acquisition Acceleration Plan which ultimately led to much of the Trust's California success over the past seven years. Raised on the edge of Colorado's Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, Mr. Huntington witnessed at an early age what development of inholdings can mean. In the early 1970's bulldozers punched a road past his grandparents' cabin to bring mining trucks four miles up a pristine alpine valley to a ten-acre mining claim. That summer the sound of roaring engines and blasting caps ricocheted off the mountains and the smell of diesel smoke filled the air. Beaver dams were blown up, Copper Creek turned muddy. A year later the would-be miners were gone but the scars and the road remained. (Wilderness Land Trust later purchased the claim and the road has been closed.)
Mr. Huntington lives in the Portland, Oregon area and is active with efforts to preserve land in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. He is founder of Abacast, a streaming media services company located in Camas, Washington, and has extensive experience in rural real estate development and sales. His role at the Trust is Vice President - Major Gifts and Marketing.
