Projects Underway

The Trust has more than 8,600 acres of projects that we are working on. These include:


Private land in Colorado’s Holy Cross Wilderness.

  • Arizona: 1,110 acres in the Mount Tipton, Hell's Canyon and Wabayuma Wilderness Areas.

  • Colorado: 318 acres in the James Peak Wilderness.

  • New Mexico: 320 acres in the West Malpais Wilderness.

  • Oregon: 960 aces in the Steens Mountain Wilderness.

  • Washington: 884 acres in the proposed Wild Sky Wilderness.

  • California: More than 5,000 acres in both proposed and existing Wilderness Areas. Proposed areas include Bodie Mountain, Cache Creek, Cady Mountains, Elkhorn Ridge, King Range, Mt. Lassic, Tunnison, Skedaddles, Yolla Bolly Addition, and Yuki Addition. Designated Wilderness Areas include the Cadiz Dunes, Chuckwalla Mountains, Domeland, Golden Trout, Old Women Mountains, Palen/McCoy, Rice Valley, Sheephole Valley, Trinity Alps, and Ventana Wilderness Areas.

The Trust is also working to transfer 1,871 acres it owns in Arizona, California, Colorado and Washington State to public ownership.
