Land Owner Information

The Wilderness Land Trust purchases private land from willing sellers in wilderness areas and in areas proposed for wilderness designation. We believe in treating landowners fairly and in a businesslike manner. If you own wilderness land we would like to talk with you. Perhaps you already have heard from one of our staff. Selling your wilderness inholding to the Trust has the following benefits:

    • You will find our staff knowledgeable about the challenges inholders often face.

    • Closing can occur quickly.
    • You may be able to donate a portion of the value for potential tax benefits.

As a private entity we are responsive to sellers’ needs. We eventually transfer all of our properties into federal ownership for incorporation into neighboring wilderness areas. When we buy properties we can move promptly and with a minimum of red tape.
